Magnolia.
Magnolia is a glimmering neighborhood to the west of Queen Anne, somewhat exclusively set apart from the remainder of Seattle. It is surrounded by water on almost all sides, which gives it an exclusive island feel. This community is primarily centered around water activities and industry, housing a wealthier demographic than many other areas of Seattle.
Magnolia boasts a strong sense of community, with several local hotspots throughout the large neighborhood. Magnolia Park is one of the most popular areas for locals, and is a great place for family outings. Perhaps more popular however, is Discovery Park, Magnolia’s largest recreational park. It is centrally focused on wildlife, with trails winding through the park giving great views of the mountainous region. The Magnolia Community Center hosts special events and services for community children and seniors, with pool and recreation programs available seasonally.
Being that it is an affluent neighborhood, Magnolia features some of the best dining and shopping in the Seattle area, with local treasures hidden around every corner. The popular Palisades restaurant is a favorite both with the locals, and tourists, offering a unique atmosphere and a fresh outlook on dining.
The locals enjoy living an organically green lifestyle, and support local farmers and fishermen at the local Magnolia Farmers Market each week from May until October. Just about any type of fruit, vegetable, cheese or seafood can be found at this large outdoor market, along with special shows, music and cooking demonstrations. The Farmers’ Market is held next to the Magnolia Community Center each Saturday.
The quaint, marine community of Magnolia is the perfect destination for a rural-suburban lifestyle, accompanied by accessible city benefits. |
